Here are some of our favorite things to see and do in Bedford County.
Foodie:
1) Golden Eagle Pub–The best secret table in town…away from the crowd and unique.
2) Jean Bonnet–Just the fact that it was built in the 1700 and has so much charm and history…always a fabulous dining experience.
3) Next Door Café–An upbeat and modern café in a beautiful historical building…the various grain bowls are divine…
4) Mikes Place…the absolute best place to get an almost home cooked meal in a laid-back environment.
5) The Igloo. The best ice cream in town…. and how could it not be…located in the biggest hot fudge sundae around and it even has a cherry on top…
6) Best Way Pizza…everyone knows in the area that when you are looking for Pizza to feed the group…you head to the only place that has trays of square cuts…
Quant Shopping Nooks:
1) Finley Bee–If you are looking for something of quality, something a little antiquish, and something a little fun…you go to the Finley Bee
2) Founders Crossing–If you’re looking for something to do on a laid-back day, visit the Founders, many
vendors with gorgeous things
3) Juniata Crossings –Looking for a relaxed place to shop with a little bit of something for everyone, this is the place you want to stop on Route 30
4) Bedford Candies— Well known for their varieties of popcorn…but those chocolate covered pretzels just cannot be beat.
5) Juniata Trading Company–The absolute best place around to get all your hunting and fishing supplies…friendly service and large variety.
6) Peppercorn Market–This is a fabulous boutique to pick up all your gourmet cooking needs…fabulous shop.
Arts and Crafts:
1) Pigeon Hill Studios–This little gallery is tucked back inside a beautiful historical building almost in the
heart of Bedford…she offers art for sale and also gives art classes
2) SAMA…One of the southern Alleghenies Museums of Art, this art gallery reflects the culture and class of a small-town county seat…the displays are elegantly designed
Historic Places:
1) The Fort Bedford Museum is a great place to step back in history and study the relics of the settler days of our county
2) Old Bedford Village–A fabulous place to take the family at any time of the year. They offer week-end events…the pumpkin festival and wild west weekends being my favorite.
Recreation:
1) The H&BT hiking/biking trial takes you through the beautiful countryside and along the awesome Juniata River
2) The Breezewood Tunnels are a must see for any biking enthusiast

3) Four Wheeling–There are two four wheeling trails in our county (One is technically in Fulton County, but close enough) … Almost Heaven…Martin Hill and Sidling Hill in Fulton County
4) Juniata River–Nothing beats a lazy day of rafting or fishing on the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River
Lodging:
1) River Mountain Resort–For a premier experience in this county and a unique tasting of our country lifestyle with a touch of modern –a must to visit would be River Mountain Resort. I cannot wait to stay the night in one of their yurts…
2) Creekside Resort–If you’re looking for a unique family experience or a romantic getaway…this is the place for you…great for weddings, parties and simply getting away…beautiful log cabin bungalows for comfy weekends
Covered Bridges:
1) Our county has the most fabulous, covered bridges in all of Pa….my favorite would be Hewitt Covered Bridge, because it is so far removed from the others and in a very picturesque area…but you must visit all of them.

Events:
1) Fall Foliage Festival—This is a great time to be in town if you love artisans and craftsmen at their best…people come for many miles just to experience the excitement and festive atmosphere that these two weekends bring to Bedford
2) Bedford County Players— This small acting theatre is a must see if they have a show that is being
played out while you are in town…a fantastic country yet talented cast
3) Downtown Bedford: If you are lucky enough to be in the area for one of Bedford wine or chocolate walks…you are lucky enough…keep your eye out for tickets early –they often sell out within days…visit DBI website
